Violetta Gaetani on Music, Gigs and Advice
Every moment in her life has lead to her becoming a musician in her later life. From her dad being a sound producer and owning a home recording studio in Italy, to her spontaneous move to L.A. after she finished high school – all Violetta Gaetani’s dreams have come true.
Her band, Afraid of My Neighbor, just released their debut EP, though they have been creating music since 2012. She describes each band member as bringing ‘their own contribution’ to the creation of music, and this is what makes their music so different and special compared to other music within the genre.
Gaetani says that there is no such thing as a ‘bad gig’, but instead calls each of them learning experiences, although ‘nothing compares to playing in front of a big crowd’.
Her advice to young performers trying to find their place on the music scene is to “never let people tell you you’re wasting your time”. After all, she’s right, she had to fight for her place in the music industry and believes that anyone with a strong enough passion and dream will make it. Her last piece of advice is to, ‘make yourself happy’, saying that you don’t have to live your life trying to impress others, as long as you impress yourself.
Afraid of My Neighbor have put themself on the music scene in L.A., creating a solid buzz about their music. They are currently planning a tour along Southern California and other western U.S. states following the recent release of their EP.

The incredible work of australian star richard stables
Richard Stables is an extremely talented Australian born actor. His interest in acting began at an early age but he only started acting when he was 19. He draws his inspiration from what he refers to as “The method guys” from the 50’s through to the 70’s. He says the likes of Brando, De Niro, Anthony Hopkins and Gary Oldman went a long way in making him the actor he is today.
Richard studied at KAFF theatre in Perth when he was 20. He was later accepted, amongst 3000 applicants, to train at the prestigious UK drama school the 'Arts Educational Schools London' for 3 years. He later moved to LA where he trained with ‘teacher to the stars’; Howard Fine, the Ivana Chubbuck Studio and in New York with William Esper and Joanna Merlin.
He has since featured in a couple of movies, TV series and commercials. Most prominent among them being Star Wars - The Phantom Menace, Healing, Wedgetail, the multi-award winning Lily and many others. He however says playing Nikita from Leo Tolstoy's, 'The Power of Darkness', which he played on stage during his final year at drama school in London, his favorite role so far.
He has received accolades for his work and has in turn received a couple of awards including ‘The Crystal Bear’ Award for Best Short Film in the Generation Kplus category at the Berlin International Film Festival 2011 (61st Berlinale). He also won Gold at The Australian Cinematographers Society Awards 2010 among numerous other awards.
Richards advice to up and coming performers is to train, train, and train some more. He also advises actors to go back to class to keep learning, exploring and working your acting muscle.
He has an upcoming feature film and hopes to do more in the future. He would eventually like to move to Los Angeles and be bicoastal between Los Angles and New York.

Jérôme Charvet to feature in the film United Passions
Jérôme Charvet is known as a serious method actor, a guitarist, an intense artist, a young acting sensation and a man with ambition. He set his goals as a teenager and continues to mark milestones in his impressive career. Those who are not familiar with this actor will soon know what makes him so special.
He was already famous for his successful performances in Amour et Turbulences and Jo, acting with stars like Jean Reno, Nicholas Farrell, Ludivine Sagnier and Nicolas Bedos. But he’s now reached the next step. A major transformation recently happened in his career after playing an essential role in the feature film United Passions.
Impressed by his earlier work, the producers and the director Frédéric Auburtin gave him a chance to act in this huge production starring award-winning actors Gérard Depardieu, Sam Neill, Tim Roth and Fisher Stevens. This high-budget and ambitious film was shot all over the world, in countries like France, Switzerland, Brazil... in order to bring to life the amazing story of the FIFA world cup. With so much at stake, you cannot afford to make mistakes in the casting. And Jérôme Charvet certainly didn’t disappoint. His performance was unique, thrilling and simply breathtaking.
“I certainly felt a lot of pressure being part of a project like this”, Jérôme Charvet confided. “Everything was gigantic, from the size of the crew, to the camera equipment, to the money involved, and to the major actors who were part of the film. I remember shooting one day on the Pont Royal right in front of the Louvre, there were huge cranes holding the cameras, trucks, tons of extras and a multitude of fans trying to get a glimpse of the set. I knew I had been given a chance that I couldn’t fail. So I worked as hard as I could, tried to keep my head up, to put things into perspective, to think of it as a game and be as relaxed as possible. By focusing on my work, and by embracing the fear of making mistakes, I managed to forget the huge weight that was on my shoulders, and that really helped me. The director, the producers and the actors encouraged me a lot. It gave me confidence and trust, and I’m glad everything went so well!”
And indeed, things went very well, the film was in the official selection for the 2014 Cannes Film Festival and received praises for its impressive casting and clear insight of what lies beneath the FIFA organization. Jérôme Charvet is now on his way to becoming Hollywood’s next powerhouse performer.

introducing tom conlan turning heads in hollywood
Hollywood's endless pursuit for movie perfection can often leave it dazed and confused. It is a town intoxicated by star power and driven by the eternal search for the next big thing. But discovering tomorrow's stars in amongst the oceans of talent that migrate to Los Angeles is an arduous task, albeit one that is relished by casting directors and talent representatives throughout Hollywood. Keeping your ear close to the ground is of pivotal importance and recently I began noticing a certain new name on the lips of some Hollywood heavy hitters. Not one to miss out, I eventually got my hands on a copy of his recent work 'My Son and The Hole Punch', an independent British film directed by Giles Alderson (CEO of Gold Films).
The film was harder to get hold of than I had expected but it was well worth the wait. Set in London it centres on a couple doing all they can to hold onto what appears a tortured partnership. It takes a short while to get going but it did not take too long before I was completely and utterly engrossed as the couple, Michael and Sue, begin their passionate, gut wrenchingly emotional but ultimately doomed relationship.
The two leads in the film are nothing short of spectacular. Lourdes Faberes, as Sue, is as fiery as they come and really shines in the more physical scenes but my intrigue in the project had come from the great things I had been hearing about the films leading man and he certainly did not disappoint. Tom Conlan, as I had been told, was completely mesmerising. As with most leading men his rugged good looks were the first thing to catch my eye but it has been a long time since I have found myself so interested in an actors face and I would certainly agree with the whispers around Hollywood that he is a potential star of the future. I have always believed that eyes are the most interesting part of any actor on screen and he fills them with such emotional depth and clarity that it is impossible not to hang on his every moment. Alderson, you feel, is all to aware of this and has given him many moments of stillness throughout the picture. One in particular sticks in the memory as Conlan moves from confusion to complete and utter despair and heartbreak and for a fleeting moment it completely took my breath away.
Alderson himself has done a wonderful job on his characterisation, giving the two leads two beautifully complex characters, and his plotting was superb as the film twists and turns before climaxing quite spectacularly. A quick google showed me that he seems to be gaining a strong reputation in London after recent awards on two of his short films which, after seeing his work on this, is not at all surprising. There are other good performances, notably from Ryan Goscinski and Dan Richardson (The Harsh Light of Day) who both do great work in a couple of hard hitting scenes as Tim and Luke Duane.
All in all 'My Son and the Hole Punch' is a highly impressive picture and you can't help but wonder what Alderson could have achieved with an even bigger budget. Tom Conlan though, seems a bonafide superstar, and with his name already circulating around the right areas of Hollywood, it seems that we will be seeing much more of him in the very near future.

Actor Profile: Anthony Ilott
|
There is rarely a star who has garnered so much attention as Anthony Ilott – but then again, you can never hide talent for very long. From his humble beginnings as a singer in a funk band that he created himself, Anthony has risen in a very short amount of time to feature in a film by 20th Century Fox. So how did a young man who already can count himself as a singer, actor, and model, get to where he is today?
He started off with training. Although Anthony had performed – singing, dancing, and acting – from a very young age, he went off to the Guildford School of Acting to receive some training. This experience gave him the chance to really stretch his artistic wings, and many performances within theatrical environments followed that. His popularity grew, and he became more and more sought after. Anthony has been quoted as saying that he loves to 'squeeze all of the juice out a character so that the viewer is getting the most naturalistic portrayal as possible', and that really comes across in his work. Well, he had plenty of inspiration. As a young child, Anthony could barely drag his eyes away from the film Forrest Gump, and was transfixed by Tom Hanks' performance. He has continued to be an acting hero for Anthony right to this day, but as he has got older, his viewing tastes have also broadened. He now counts amongst his inspirational heroes Leonardo Di Caprio, Will Smith, and Jim Carrey. Some of the greats have shown the way for this young man who will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the greatest actors of his generation. Anthony will probably go on to be an inspiration for many young people to come, but for now, all we can do is wait with high expectations for his next film to come out. |
Hollywood is watching the talented alberto lacayo
From the age of a very small child, Alberto Lacayo has enjoyed dancing – but it was not until he was pulled on stage by his aunt, a professional singer, that he realized that he could bring people happiness by his own actions. That moment sparked something deep within him, and it has pushed him forward to pursue his acting career – a career that is taking new and exciting heights.
One of Alberto Lacayo's greatest inspirations is Seth MacFarlane, who he describes as 'multitalented, visionary and one of the smartest guys in the business'. It is MacFarlane's ability to totally immerse himself into the projects he has worked on that Alberto Lacayo really admires. Through his own personal studies into dramatic theory, Alberto Lacayo has come to favor the Stanislavski system – although he still utilizes some of the skills and practices from method acting, and Chevoc and Meisner techniques.
Alberto Lacayo really invests in the characters that he portrays. He has been quoted as saying that his ideal project would not be based around a particular director, or a specific kind of film or play: instead, his dream is to work as a character that he truly likes, and that has a direct impact into shaping the story. As well as that, however, Alberto Lacayo believes that the environment that is established by the people working on the project is absolutely key to it’s success. So far, he has been lucky in enjoying very positive atmospheres on all of his previous projects, and it is a central part of what he is keeping his eye on for the future.
For now though, Alberto Lacayo's fans will have to wait with baited breath while he finishes off the script that he is writing for a new web series. There are speculations that the production will start running earlier next year. We are keeping a close watch on this talented guy!

bio: actor and performer james nitti
From the streets of London, to the big screen in America – James Nitti has certainly had an exciting career, and he is only twenty four! There is a huge amount of time ahead of him, but many of his fans would consider him to have achieved more than many could ever dream of.
James started off his career in local television, but it was not long before his skills were recognised, and he started his real training within the National Youth Theatre. After he finished his formal education at school, James knew that he wanted to really invest in his career, and so spent three years at the Guildford School of Acting, one of the most respected drama schools in the world. This prepared him for some of the amazing opportunities that he has earned through his talents.
A film called Dragons of Camelot, in which James plays Sir Galahad, is coming out this year, but there are still many other roles that James wants to play. In particular, James would love to have the chance to be able to work with Ian McKellan – the idea of working with someone so talented and experienced would be a real achievement for James. However, there are many other actors that James admires: from Daniel Day Lewis to Tom Hanks.
There is no way of knowing just how far James will go in his career, but he has certainly earned his way to a promising start, and many people are excitingly watching to see what he decides to do next. Until then, the advice that he gives to young children that are hoping to follow in his footsteps is to never give up, no matter what knocks downs you may receive. It is advice that James himself has taken, and it is certainly doing him the world of good!

An International Outlook
Nazli K Lou is an actress who has always had the entire world as her stage. This international outlook has certainly benefitted Nazli, and has given her the chance to meet some amazing people on her career and life journey. Born in Tehran, Iran, in the midst of the revolution, Nazli’s parents packed up their family and moved to Vienna, Austria, where she grew up.
One of the people Nazli met on her life journey was a teacher at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, an elite acting program Nazli was accepted into after she auditioned along with seven thousand other people. This teacher encouraged Nazli to select roles that were close to her heart, and which had a large worldview, so more people could be reached with the message the movie was trying to get across.
With this in mind, Nazli auditioned for, and won a role on a truly moving film with a very important message: For the Birds, directed by Tara Ataghash. This film is set in Iran, and is based on the true story of a sixteen-year-old girl that was sexually assaulted and then punished under chastity laws in Iran. The narrative was so controversial that the production was forbidden from shooting in Iran, which forced the production team to recreate an entire Iranian village in a schoolyard in America. But this is hardly a miscarriage of justice, compared to what AtefehSahaleh had to endure when she was publicly executed, stoned to death for her “crimes” in 2004.
When AtefehSahaleh was stoned to death, people around the world were outraged at the act that the country of Iran took against this girl, especially after its government had made agreements not to execute anyone under the age of eighteen. Clearly, it is an important message, one that the filmmakers and actors were anxious to undertake – but it was a mission that the cast and crew united to carry out, so that audiences could learn about, and ultimately end, the practice of executing minors.
Nazli herself hopes the film will highlight the plight of teenagers and other young people around the world who are unfairly accused, or who aren’t given enough legal aid to fight their cases. Nazli, of course, found the film a tremendously challenging piece to undertake. But she loved the challenge, and rose to the occasion because she grew up knowing the world was a very big stage on which she could make her mark and share important stories.
With an international outlook, Nazli K Lou has become the kind of actress that takes her job and elevates it to more than just performance – she turns it into an act of social justice.

katie elizabeth conquering the acting world with her beauty and talent
Katie Elizabeth is an exciting actress that is starting to appear on American screens, but for those that have really enjoyed her performances – which many do – she is not so new as all that. For the last ten years or so, she has really progressed through studying at Stagecoach, to starring in short films.
But unlike many actresses her age, Katie Elizabeth is unusual in that she has a large number of skills that are very useful when looking at making television and feature films. For example, Katie is very skilled at horse riding, and is a very strong swimmer. Perhaps even more intriguingly, Katie is also good at kick-boxing and pole dancing a skill that she learned for a role, and has maintained.
Katie has been lucky throughout her career to gain knowledge and experience from other people that have gone before her. She has gained master-class knowledge from Anthony Meindl, Amy Lyndon, Crystal Carson and Greg Edwards. Through these classes, Katie has really been able to expand her knowledge and really hone her acting skills.
This has been evidenced throughout her work in films. Katie has worked with a wide variety of production companies, from Harris Production, Panda House Production, Lewthwaite Films and Hupton Productions. She has typically taken the lead role in their productions, and has really enjoyed her time being part of an ensemble team. That experience has really aided her in her next venture: taking on America.
In the US, Katie is currently working towards a pilot television series, and many people are excited about the work that she will be creating once again.

Profile: Jade oremus
There are very few people, male or female, that have the versatility to grow up on one side of the world, and then travel to the other through their own personal successes, but Jade Oremus is just one sort of person. She is an actress that has been wowing audiences for over twenty years – despite being under thirty years of age, and has recently made the move from her home of Australia over to the United States of America. But as well as the amazing beauty and gorgeous voice, there is a lot going on with Jade: she has degrees in Psychology and Law besides her growing career in acting.
You have probably seen her, and marvelled at the depth and character that she brings to each of her roles, whether they be large or small, on screen or on stage. She has appeared in a large number of films and television shows, including Home and Away, Big Sky, FlatChat, Water Rats, Underbelly, Snobs and See How They Run. But she has not yet worked with the one actor that she is desperate to star alongside: Sean Penn!
It can be difficult for someone so young to break into the closed world of Hollywood, but Jade's talent has made it possible for her. As well as studying acting at the Renegades Theatre and Film Group under the famous Chick Vennera, Jade currently has several films that are touring film festivals at the moment, which she is concentrating on promoting. She also has a role in the upcoming television show Party Time, which she is incredibly excited about, but cannot talk too much on at the present time. Keep an eye out for Jade, because she is fast becoming the actress that everyone is talking about.

Canada's own popular makeup artist francoise saint-pierre
You could be forgiven for thinking that Francoise Saint Pierre is just a pretty face. After all, she is rather beautiful, and she is one of the most incredible makeup artists that are currently working. But don't be fooled: there is far more to Francoise Saint Pierre that lies on the surface.
For example, there are few makeup artists that have a Bachelor in Business Administration. Even fewer of those go on to get a qualification to make them a chartered accountant, and an even smaller percentage of them continue to get an MBA. But that is exactly how Francoise Saint Pierre started out in her working life, and it has certainly done her absolutely no harm.
After re-locating from Canada to Los Angeles, Francoise Saint Pierre's life took a completely different turn. Instead of continuing her already successful career in the business world, she decided to unleash the creative talents within her by taking classes in makeup artistry. She now has diplomas and certificates to her name that prove she is a particularly talented makeup artist – but the beauty of who Francoise Saint Pierre is meant that she soon saw a way to combine her two talents.
Francoise Saint Pierre is now representing and is a makeup artist for Lise Watier, and is revolutionizing the way that we see makeup artists. As well as aiding the company to achieve a rise of sales in the United States, she is also continuing her own personal journey by doing the make up for short films such as Leave me Not as well as getting beauty article published. Francoise Saint Pierre demonstrates clearly that make up artists cannot be pigeon holed – there is always so much more to give.

Anna mcniven stars in film noir
A new exciting and dramatic short film called Film Noir has been finally released to the public, and it has been incredibly well-received. The film was completed in 2013, after several months of intense work in Sydney, Australia. Beginning at the Sydney Horror and Sci-Fi and Fantasy Festival in 2014, this short film offers a dark and terrifying insight into the mind of people desperate to get what they want.
This short film is made by Christian Heininger, who has not only directed this delicate masterpiece, but has also written, produced, and edited the final product. Having one mind and one opinion forming a short film such as this gives it a tangible edge over other short films within the genre. This German film maker also dedicated his own time to perfecting the special effects, the make up, and even the sound and visual effects. When one person has such drive to create a short film, it is clear that his vision is brilliant.
The narrative of the short film centers around a man that decides to stay in, have a quiet night, and watch a simple movie. But the film draws him further and further in. The movie that he watches stars a femme fatal who remains nameless throughout the entire film. She has incredible power over the two men in her life; her boyfriend and her lover. She plots to encourage her lover to kill her boyfriend, getting rid of him permanently. Anna McNiven, known for her work in Singularity, plays the femme fatal amazingly, and she shares the screen with Joey Wehbe and Christopher J. Ferguson.
Lovers of psychological twists and turns will love this short film, as it seeks to challenge our preconceptions of drama and voyeurism. This film is a complete must see!

coming this winter 'freedom dance' starring lucinda jubb
The many fans of the cutting edge and popular film Diamond Ice'd, a movie that examined the dark and dreary criminal underworld will be delighted to hear that its director Alan Brown has just finished filming the sequel, Freedom Dance. His independent film-making has gained more and more popularity, especially because he is often the writer of his own films. This dual action approach towards the art that he makes allows him the delicate creative control that so many films lack. However, Freedom Dance is a slightly more unusual film, even compared to the other independent film that is pouring out of Hollywood and Pinewood, because it doesn't revolve around a man and a woman. Instead, the two primary characters are two women, called Jane and Susan.
Alan Brown depends once again on the superb acting talents that he brought to the screen in Diamond Ice'd: James Harrison, Peter Dean and Julia van Ellis. However, it is the new and dramatic performance of Lucinda Jubb as Susan that breaks the mould of what audiences expect of the films that they see in the cinema nowadays.
Instead of relying on a tired and old formula of boy meets girl, Freedom Dance wanders from this boring theme and instead contradicts the expected mode of narrative film. Although Jane originally appears to be the protagonist in this criminally questionable world, she soon meets Susan who acts as the counter-point to every move that she makes. These two feminine characters are not obsessed with men, but are instead more focused on themselves and each other, re-taking the screen for women in an industry where men work for longer, are offered more exciting roles, and are typically paid more. The difficulty for the audience is always going to be having to decide between the two characters – is it possible to side with one without automatically siding against the other? Are these two women able to work together, and will they betray each other?
Although it is not exactly clear when Freedom Dance will be released to the general public, the filming that began in London in 2012 has finally wrapped. Once the editing is completed, all of the fans will be able to see just how incredible a film that uses two female characters to tell the story really is.

Claire Cohen Bio
A natural talent from the beginning, Claire Cohen has been involved in the entertainment industry since a very young age. She started playing the violin at the age of 5 and soon moved on to the piano at the age of 8. She did not stop here and started playing the French horn and flute by the age of 10 and the organ by the age of 12. Her talent in music made her tour the entire UK and Europe with her school choir and orchestra. However, later she realized that her passion was in acting. She saw Heath Ledger perform a Knight’s Tale and Claire was so inspired by the actors and their talent. This adolescent passion made her join the RADA summer course in England, while she was visiting her grandmother. Soon, this passion developed into a deep seated love for theater and acting and she learned the very first basics of her career in London and became extensively involved in the theater and film industry. As soon as she came back home, she wanted to be an actress herself.
She started to train herself and even sent packages to various agencies. By the age of 16, she had an agent. Though her parents wanted her to finish her high school studies, she went on and found ample time to work for Dance Academy. This show was distributed through Nickelodeon in the United States, Germany and many other countries. While she was a high school senior, she decided to go to New York and study theater. She applied to The American Academy of Dramatic Arts as soon as she could and got accepted there. The biggest surprise of her life came on the night of her 18th birthday and she was even offered a merit scholarship for the same.
She, therefore, completed her high school studies and moved to New York to study for her passion. As she completed her first year in 8 months, she was invited to study there for the second year as well. She was auditioned for the Academy Theater Company in the same theater where the Phantom of the Opera is performed. Because of her excellent acting skills, she was selected and worked in many off-Broadway plays for the next 9 months. She later moved to LA and gave a completely new turn to her career. She would be working in Excess Flash really soon.

The talented salme geransar
Unity in diversity has always been Australia’s strong point. Australia has embraced people from various religions, regions and cultures. One such person that Australia embraced is Salme Geransar and boy, she has made Australia proud. Salme by roots is Iranian and moved to Australia when she was just four. It has never been an easy ride for her and she, by sheer hard work has overcome all obstacles. When she was just seven, she perfected the art of playing piano. Even in school, she always topped the charts in studies too. Though Arts and Mathematics were her favorite subjects, still she managed to top in almost all the subjects. While in second year of studying biotechnology, she realized that she was not enjoying the lab work there and joined a local drama school for weekly classes. The rest as they say is history. Let us have a look at some of her finer performances and her training background.
The decision of switching to the field of acting really changed things for her and changed them for the good. She traveled to New York to train at the prestigious New York Film Academy. There she learnt some important tricks of the trade. From there she came back to Sydney, only to train at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Arts. She took her training very seriously and the results are there for everyone to see. She played the lead role in “Decadence” and although this soap ran for just two seasons, her finesse and skills in the field of acting were on full display. Back in 2009, she moved to Melbourne, where she bagged the role of a lead guest in the illustrious Police Drama TV series of channel 10 “Rush”. Her casting as “Nushin” in “The Orchard”, won her many accolades. Critics predicted that she could easily be the next big thing. Her film “Wish” has already made her the apple of the eyes of the top-notch directors.
Apart from all these spell binding performances, she has continued to learn new skills. Her repertoire now consists of speaking Spanish and kick boxing too. She has certainly changed lanes and is now in the Ferrari lane.

THE PASSION FOR STREET DANCE!
Jean Jean Baptiste´s passion for street dance brought him to pursue a life of dance and entertainment. In NYC, under the guidance of Brian Green in BDC and Jazzy J, he learned the fundamentals of the streets such as popping, house, locking and hip hop. Jean is a disciple at the Shaolin Temple in NYC where “STREEETS” is based. He is currently making his dream come true
XX: What is “STREEETS”?
J.B: “STREEETS” was founded in 2010 by a gathering of old school dance teachers, to discuss the misrepresentation of the art and the lack of ownership the street dance community gets for their work. Over the years, I've been working on creating a unique dance school. A Dance school unlike any other. A school that is designed and based on street fundamental techniques.
The mission of “STREEETS”, is to educate and promote street dance styles through dance workshop taught by prestigious street dance masters, followed by workshops that teach the history of African and African American dance, during workshops.
XX: Why NYC? Shaolin Temple...
J.B: My passion for street dance brought me to pursue a life of dance and entertainment. And what would you say is the best city for dancers in the world? ...ha, ha, ha... In NYC, you learn the fundamentals of the streets such as popping, house, locking and hip hop.
I´m a disciple at the Shaolin Temple (US Location) and I met Shi Yan Ming, Shaolin monk and Director of the temple. Shi Yan Ming and I had since the beginning, a strong spiritual connection. When she saw me performing and –in his own words- “due to my talent” –lol- he provides me with a space at the temple to develop my creativity. This temple is the home base for S.D.U.S.
XX: The Tournament “the gathering of street dancers”...
J.B: Exactly, the tournament is the “gathering of street dancers” from all styles to compete in a dance tournament using all the styles. The winner will receive a grand prize. This tournament is designed to evaluate the art in a more positive way. it is held at the prestigious U.S.A Shaolin Temple in New York City.
XX: How do you define dance theatre?
J.B: It’s those collaborations with artists from other disciplines that make us a “Dance-Theatre,” in my opinion. We definitely value the power of pure-movement, of course. Many of our pieces are dance and dance alone, and we think it’s important to let dance stand and speak on its own sometimes. However, I am most fulfilled when working on interdisciplinary projects.
“STREEETS” collaborates with other artists to develop and create dance film and theater using street dance and music. In our drama workshop, for example, we have a live DJ playing music with an actor feeding the dancers with different kinds of emotions while dancing.
This collaboration will help us to discover different ways to “play & dance” that we would not have found through movement alone. Also to use as a gate for street dance to work in film and dance theaters in NYC.
XX: How would you describe your style of dance to someone who has never been to a dance concert before?
J.B: The system is designed to mimic the street culture rather than the traditional studio class. It consists of a live DJ playing music rather than a radio, followed by a teacher. This kind of dancing is taught without mirrors, the main difference from the traditional dance to maintain the street style of learning. This style of dancing is based on the African American dance tradition that puts the source of the movement in the soul rather than on the external technique.
XX: What are the influences when creating this “kind” of dancing?
J.B: Street dance techniques such as Breaking, Popping, Locking, Waacking, Vouging, House, Krumping, using the Katherine Dunham Technique as a base. This will be bridged to the previous styles of African dance such Haitian, Cuban, and African Dance.
XX: What are you hoping to accomplish through this project?
J.B: My main goal with this project is to create the “first” Street Dance University. How? ... With all the street dance teachers. And as any other university, not only teaching dancers how to dance but also educating them. Subjects like History (of African and African American Dance), Drama, Spirituality, Body Awareness, Psychomotor, etc. A part of Dancing. This led me to create S.D.U.S (Street Dance Unity Studio) & S.D.U.T (Street Dance Unity Tournament).
Professionally, to provide a space for those street dancers that would like to share their knowledge, learn new street waves and launch their own projects based on NYC street dance styles.
But beyond all this, there´s an important social awareness... To show young people an alternative to a life in the ghetto collaborating with youth centers giving them the importance they really have in our society.
XX: What makes your company unique?
J.B: That we would be the First!...ha, ha, ha...
XX: Thank You, Jean

FILMMAKER- ROANA WULLINGER
Growing up in Stuttgart, Germany, filmmaking phenomena Roana Wullinger dreamed of making movies. The dream never left her. Right out of high school she won a highly-coveted internship with Taks Film & Media Production Company, where she got her first professional experience in film and television production. At 21, she moved to Los Angeles, the beating heart of the film industry, to continuing her film education in the industry’s epicenter.
Roana took a very methodical approach to learning every facet of filmmaking – from camerawork, to sound recording, to editing, to script writing, to directing actors, and everything in between.
When asked about her favorite productions, Roana is hard-pressed to choose. She talks about the productions she’s done with acclaimed Hollywood producers at Dolce Films, as well as a recent trailer for the Penguin Publishing book Origin, which was produced by Oscar-nominated Dirty Robber Productions. She says that working with Michael Snyder of Crash Productions on the short film Infatuation was “a great learning experience,” and working with Bodhi Elfman on his film The Truth (Die Wahrheit in German) as the “most fun.” She remembers the moment she found out her own film, Rain Day, was accepted into the Short Film Corner at Cannes as one of the “most memorable”.
Roana’s next films include the highly anticipated mafia film The Cool Kids with Open Range Productions, as well as the feature-length version of Skateboarding with Saddam, which sets a teenage romance against the backdrop of armed conflict between Israel and Iraq. She will also be working with Maria Abraham Productions on the films Roses are Red and Dee Pee, a dark comedy about the challenges a film crew faces making a film.
She’s already proven to Tinseltown that she has what it takes, and we expect great things from this young filmmaker.

Jasmin De Main's Is A Face Seen Around The World. To say Jasmin De Main has been seen around the world may appear to be promotional hype, but the statement is 100% accurate. Ms. De Main was born and raised in Broken Hill, an isolated Australian mining town in the far west outback of New South Wales. Jasmin has traveled the globe, hopping from continent to continent to appear in theatre productions, commercials, TV shows and series, as well as in films. She has spent time in Germany doing both film and theatre work, as well as acting in London. Ms. De Main was in a couple of commercials in her native Australia too, and for the last year and a half has been living in Los Angeles, California.
While not acting, or commuting from country to country for theater, television or film work, Jasmin writes travel articles. Not an odd pastime, considering she's able to write about travel first hand from her own experiences.
Being an actor and globe trotting travel writer would fill most people's plates. Not so for Jasmin, who is currently directing and acting in a professional children's theatre company, "Creating Arts Company". She plays Susan in their production of "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe". The production is running now at the Promenade Playhouse, in Santa Monica, California, and will continue through to September 28, 2013.
Jasmin is currently in development for two TV pilots to be out in the summer of next year and is also writing her first feature to be shot in Germany next year with her colleague and friend Claudia Zielke. She also plans on directing and acting in some more shows with the Creating Arts Company and a comedy premiering at Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica in February 2014
For the moment Jasmin De Main has no plans to leave California. However, with industry contacts around the world, Ms. De Main has more doors open to her than most actresses. Also, with an already impressive resume that includes experience in stage and film acting, commercials, and numerous TV productions, to say Ms. De Main possesses skills, training and experience is an understatement. Now that she's sitting in a director's chair, Jasmin's professional versatility and flexibility is going to propel her to the status of a much sought after commodity for sure. So don't be surprised if you see Jasmin De Main on set, on stage, or seated in a director's chair anywhere in the world.

profile- karla Lopez
Karla Lopez Mora is a gifted producer and coordinator in the world of entertainment. Lopez’s successful productions of series and short films clearly testifies that she is very much a hard working and successful woman. She enjoys tough works and does them with ease and has accomplished so many production and coordinating projects in 2013. Her creativeness, intelligence and outstanding management qualities are demonstrated by the hard works she has worked on, including ‘We Need Help’, ‘Tiny Commando', How To Bake It In Hollywood’, ‘Let’s Talk About Love’, ‘All the Wrong Notes’ and ‘Hear Me Out’ which are examples of her production house works.
Tiny Commando and We Need Help will debut during Fall on Yahoo and they represent the biggest projects she has been a part of so far. "It was an interesting experience shooting these projects because we shot the entire first season all at once, so we spent three to four weeks straight working on them" says Lopez. In the world of web shows, it is very common to shoot an entire season all at once and also releasing the series all at the same time, which gives the audience the chance to watch the show at their own pace and whenever they want to watch it. "I actually enjoy this way of shooting because when you film a TV show, unless the show has been picked up to series, you don't know if you get to shoot one, two or the entire season of the show, with web shows you get to be at least part of the entire first season".
Karla works on both scripted and non-scripted shows."It's nice to be able to work on both formats, our non-scripted shows include Reluctantly Healthy and Anthony Eats America and I can honestly say it is always fun working with Judy Greer and Anthony Anderson respectively, they are really funny and you always learn useful tips for cooking, working out and health related advice ".
Lopez spent most of her academic career in Costa Rica where she graduated from journalism. Later, she raised her career heights to a new level, by receiving certificates in Cinematography and Production from UCLA Extension. . There is no stopping this young and talented star, who has the world at her feet and many Hollywood hotshots scrambling to have her be a part of their team! Karla Lopez, is definitely a source to be reckoned with!

Johanna Lukkari, the blonde haired, blue eyed actress, captivates hearts and steals the show. While she is making it big now, she has risen to playing lead roles in feature films in a very short period of time. How has she been able to accomplish this?

A Rising Young Actress Ahead Of Her Time
Back in the day, when Hollywood celebrities were larger than life and the silver screen ruled, a young wannabe actress named Norma Jean Mortenson was advised to change her name if she ever wanted to be a success. She did, and the star Marilyn Monroe was born. Fast forward almost 65 years to today... Now each celebrity couple to have a baby seem to be trying to come up with a much more unique name for their child than any other couple before them. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin named their daughter Apple. Sylvester Stallone had a son named Sage Moonblood. Beyonce' Knowles and Jay Z thought Blue Ivy was a good choice for their daughter's moniker, and the list goes on and on.
So if the trend among celebrities is to give their child a name that will be unique, something special to have them stand apart from the crowd, Tinkabell Lovelace must be a couple of decades ahead of her time. Tinkabell Lovelace(her real name, given to her by her father), or Tinks as she is called, is a talented young British actress living in Los Angeles. Tinks can be seen in the series “My Boring Life”, which is currently being released and achieving significant commercial success online. However, it's Tinks' leading role as Fiona in the short film “At The End Of The Night” that's due to hit all the festivals at the end of the year that will draw her attention and praise. She plays the trouble making best friend that tries to mix things up at lack luster party thrown by her newly married friends .
Likewise, with the buzz about "Lovelace", the movie about the life of porn star Linda Lovelace still going strong, Tinks' name may be misspelled, but she's unlike to ever be referred to in casting circles as, "She's that girl, you know the one I mean."

Ayesha Fraser- Not to be ignored!
A first glimpse of Ayesha Fraser indicates a ‘strong willed’ woman but a careful look reveals that she is more than that. Fraser is no doubt a determined woman but an educated and talented actress. The stunning 5feet 4 inches tall beauty with truly captivating eyes has a smile that can melt hearts in an instant.
Ayesha is no stranger to acting; she has trained for one year at the New York Film Academy under the best instructors. She even took a boot camp training program at the Acting Corps, Los Angeles to master acting technique and cold reading. She can deliver dialogues in different accents from American to British and even Australian.
The entertainment industry is always on the lookout for new talent and faces; Fraser certainly qualifies for this. There are few actors or actresses that possess sound knowledge of acting and equally capable of performing well on theater as well as on the silver screen. She has played in various theater dramas not only in Los Angeles but also in Australia and was appreciated for her performance by all.
Fraser guest starred in different television series including Shake It Up and 90210. All prestigious productions from LA based entertainment companies; vouching the fact that she has what it takes to be a good actress. Her successes are not limited to theater and television series but there are three short films in which she is playing the lead role. ‘Hay day’ ‘Lotto Double’ and ‘Dimitry the Friendly Vampire’ are among those; and of course her supporting roles in ‘Baggage claim’ and ‘Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret’ were enough to get her noticed by the best.
Ayesha Fraser is a skilled dancer as well and specializes in hip hop, jazz and modern dance but she is also an expert swimmer and rhythmic gymnast which truly give her an edge over many. She has performed well in comedy roles and it will be truly interesting to see her in an action oriented role for in our opinion she is made for it.

An interview with australian musician, morgan jago!
You moved to New York City from Australia last year. Do you feel the US has embraced you as a foreigner?
Sure! Americans are a lovely bunch of people, very friendly and positive and they love an Aussie! They are much nicer in person.
Can you compare American and Australian audiences?
Depends where you're playing. American audiences generally listen more attentively and talking in some venues is just not tolerated. Serious stuff music.
Your new single "Hope & it’s Consequences" seems to have a contradictory feel, the lyrics are hopeful yet you sing them with an angsty tone.
Do I?! I just try and go with the feel of the song I don't try and sing angsty!!
What are your inspirations?
I don't know exactly. Sometimes the feel of where I've written a song seems to creep in like when I was writing in Paris some of the songs came out with a revolutionary charging kind of feel, I thought that was interesting. Something that moves me doesn't launch me into writing a song. I just write them. But I do suppose the things I'm into come through. I try not to analyze it.
You're a trained actor will you be putting your training to use in the future?
Maybe, the theater is in me and I would like to do some more acting.
What's in store for Morgan Jago for the rest of the year?
Recording 'The Stargate is Closed' and hopefully some time to surf in Chile!

Lucy Campbell: A closer look
Lucy Campbell is one of Australia’s most beautiful and multi talented personalities who has worked hard at achieving her goals. Straight out of college, she worked in the creative department of Saatchi & Saatchi. After some time, she was encouraged to take up television presenting which then led to acting. Following these suggestions she was taken on by the best agent in Sydney and was called in for many auditions, but Lucy hadn't reached the maturity required to make the big commitment for this path and seeing some of her friends struggle as actors in LA truly dented her conviction. She gave it a total of four months and then went into radio which was beckoning her and was more of a sure thing. Here Lucy found her voice and had a successful radio career. She had her own program called "I love Lucy". She then went to London to explore the world and landed a job with the BBC.
On her return she took a one month contract at Diageo and ended up staying there for three years as it was a safe move and Lucy was trying to avoid taking the more challenging path of her true passion particularly as she was nearing her 30th birthday.
Having had the experience of being an actress in Sydney for a short time Lucy felt that this job was more secure. Then the GFC hit and lots of people were losing their jobs, Lucy was lucky enough to have not lost her job but instead was asked to extend her contract and stay at Diageo which she happily accepted. She had a fantastic lifestyle "on paper" but the inner nagging of her true passions became harder to ignore and Lucy realized it was time to man up and that the only thing in her way was fear!
She was born to do so much more. It was on her best friends 30th birthday when she was looking at a picture of herself from the party and saw that her eyes had zero sparkle left in them which triggered her to dig deep and to face up to what she had subconsciously always known. She got in touch with her truth and enrolled in a 6 week acting course to get her mojo back! Being in a class with 19 year olds she found daunting to start with but soon realized the virtue of life experience. She completed the course and found herself playing the role of blanche from "A Streetcar Named Desire" shortly afterwards at the Short & Sweet festival. It has been a couple of years since that initial brave step into the acting studio, and now she has been working hard at her craft in New York at The Susan Batson Studio and The Atlantic Theatre. Lucy has just finished working on the film "Welcome to New York' Directed by Abel Ferrara and is set to star in an indie film in July called Split.
Lucy is also a successful voiceover artist in new york and just finished a web series for "What's Inside"and has done many campaigns in her home country Australia, for brands including Huggies, Babies R Us, Special K and many more. She is also a Singer/Songwriter and has produced and recorded her own songs which can be found on her website. She has played at popular venues all around Sydney including Sydney's number one venue The Basement, El Rocco Jazz Club, Icebergs, Will & Toby’s, The Roundhouse and many more. She has a folk duo called 'Johnny4Lucy' and they do harmonies with their original material. This Australian beauty is now on the starry path to success in Television, film and theatre with a singing career on the side.

Writer, performer, and actress Toby Marks is proving that hard work and dedication is the recipe for actualizing dreams and meeting goals. Born and raised in Canada by parents who immigrated from South Africa, 23 year old Toby and her twin brother Byron were both encouraged early in life to follow their passions. Toby knew early in life that her dream and goal was to be an actress. Having started dancing and performing at the tender age of three and studying the works of Shakespeare at age 12, Toby was soon familiar and comfortable with the arts. Toby continued her formal studies with Syracuse University where she received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Drama, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During which time, she headed to London where she worked and improved on her craft at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater where she performed the role of Viola in Twelfth Night.
Marks is currently developing and writing an original web series, along with writing partner Emily Rice. The series, which she describes as a “psychological comedy” is being considered as a featured advertising project for a large U.S. corporation. Along with her series work, Marks continues to perform her written and performed one-woman play entitled William’s Monster. She hopes to turn William’s Monster into a movie and welcomes the challenges such a feat will require. Her dream actor to cast in the movie would be none other than David Tennant, star of the widely popular series Doctor Who. As a self-proclaimed Doctor Who aficionado, Toby feels it would only do the movie justice to have her favorite actor bring her written character to life.

Featured Actress- Tiedora DeGrigo
In the genre of popular cinema in Hollywood, Sweden's Tiedora DeGrigo has already made a mark for herself in both stage and screen. Born in Istanbul, raised in Sweden, and having lived in countries across Europe, Tiedora’s exposure to a variety of cultures and languages provides a rich source for her to draw from as an actor – which could be why she draws attention everywhere she goes. Most recently, Tiedora is burning up the stages in Hollywood, California, where she has landed a slew of meaty roles. Tiedora tells us about these roles and what she learned from playing them. The first role she cites is the role of Sarah in the Archibald Macleish classic “J.B,” a modern-day retelling of the Book of Job. In the emotionally wrought role of JB’s wife, Sara, Tiedora plays a woman who loses everything as the play progresses – her five kids, her home, her wealth, and even her husband. J.B. was directed by Oscar and Emmy Winner Milton Justice who personally selected Tiedora for the role. Tiedora explains “Playing Sara made me stronger on stage. The first full rehearsals left me completely wiped out and exhausted mentally and physically, but the longer the show ran, the more energy I had at the end of each performance – just like working out, the more you do it, the stronger you get.”
Next, Tiedora tackled the role of Norma in Christopher Thornton’s production of the play “The Diviners” – a woman who is devoutly religious to the point of seemingly a bit unhinged, giving moving speeches inspired by profound faith, as well as providing comic relief. Tiedora greatly enjoyed working with Christopher Thornton (Sympathy for Delicious), who is widely acclaimed for his accomplishments portraying leading males roles in a wheelchair. Tiedora tells us that “playing Norma was a lot of fun” and that “she wished the show could have run longer.”
And no discussion of Tiedora’s theatrical accomplishments is complete without a mention of her role of Millie Marston in Tim McNeil’s original play “Margaret,” about a 16-year old who unexpectedly commits suicide. Millie tries to hold Margaret’s family and the community together while her own family crumbles around her – her husband cheating on her and her teenage son becoming a mean and bitter young man.
But Tiedora’s talents extend far beyond the stage – she’s also landed lead roles in several films that are in the works. Soon to be released, the feature film “Leila” stars Tiedora as, you guessed it, Leila, in director Alian Villeneuve’s sad love story about an innocent young Swedish foreign exchange student who falls for a man who turns out to be dark and twisted, dragging the beautiful young girl down with him. She’s also at work on the film “Gettin’ Off” playing the part of a drug-addicted prostitute who gains the attention of an awkward young man who tries to save her.
The sky is the limit for this beautiful and talented actress who came across the world to follow her dreams. It was well worth the hard work for Tiedora as she gets the recognition she deserves in Tinseltown. She has all of Hollywood's hotshots watching her next move. Stay tuned for more from Tiedora DeGrigo!

Featured Actress- Fanny rosen
It might appear as if the job of an actor is simple, as if all they have to do is put on some makeup and just act in front of a camera, but no! It takes hard work and complete dedication to be a good actor. There are many people who get the opportunity to become an actor but not everybody becomes popular. Only some of them are able to make it big. These are gifted people who are able to act in the most natural way, seeming effortless. One such actress who has swept the audience by their feet because of her acting skills is Fanny Rosen.
Originally from Sweden, Fanny Rosen moved to LA. It was in 2011 that the actress decided to shift here in order to expand her acting career. Before moving to LA, she had been auditioning since the time she was 10 years old. Guess she knew that she had the potential to awestruck others through her acting skills from such a young age. She was the leading lady in many Swedish productions. After she came to LA, she joined “Stella Adler Academy of Acting and Theater” so as to get trained in the acting field. Her only aim was to keep patience and continue with the hard work. Her persistence soon paid off afterwards when she started with some praiseworthy roles.
Among her best works is the play “The Elephant Man” in which she played the part of Mrs. Kendal and was greatly appreciated. The play is based on John Merrick’s life. John Merrick, also known as Elephant Man, falls irrevocably in love with Mrs. Kendal in the play. Fanny’s role was among the most important roles in the play and she did justice to her character too.
Another work of hers that is remembered is that of Bella in the play “Lost in Yonkers”. The role of Bella was quite challenging as the actress had to be sweet yet portray herself as mentally challenged. Nonetheless, Fanny Rosen proved her mettle as Bella too.
The actress is not only known for playing heavy dramatic roles with much ease but she has also proved herself in comedy roles. She’s also added the roles of a fame-hungry, young dancer in ‘Fame – the Musical’ and Hernia in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ to her impressive list of projects. Moreover, she can act in multiple languages as well. She is multi-talented and her perseverance to succeed just adds to that.

Featured actor- David Mihalka – An Insight into his life.
With every click of the button, photographer David Mihalka isn’t only taking photographs because of his profession, for him it’s more than that. Having held a camera at an early age, he has seen this device as more than a mere device for capturing images. From his early years, David has been living in many countries. Besides the occasional problems one encounters while growing, David feels that these experiences, both good and bad have molded him into what he is today.
There were times in his life when he felt low and had no sense of where his life was headed. It was these times when he picked up the camera and sought a better way to express himself. He says that the camera gave him direction. Those days he used his camera for the sake of documentation. It’s a whole lot different now. He captures images that spark the imagination and capture memories. During the difficult years, he was recovering from some bad habits and he decided to travel places with his camera, thereby meeting new people and discovering new experiences. Photography opens his eyes to the real world.
Every picture of David’s is a treat for the eyes and stirs the imagination. He doesn’t look for what other people find appealing, he decides himself on these matters and it’s his judgement that guides him. He believes that everyone has different preferences and tastes, and he loves constructive criticism. He once was very sensitive towards the opinions of critics but being more mature now, he looks forward to honest criticism as they give him room for improvement of his skill. He also started a blog where he uploads work regularly to showcase his creativity. He nowadays includes relevant quotes with his pictures as well. After this amazing journey of transformation and success, David is humble about the fact that there are no short cuts to success. He believes that success lies in how much one practices. He has always done so and kept himself motivated by doing so.
